Susannah Wheatcroft is a conceptual artist; specialising in sculpture and installation often combining this with innovative textile processes. Formerly an abstract painter I began to work with sculpture to allow me to explore the idea of 'bringing painting to life' by taking away the confinements of paint on paper.
Susannah Wheatcroft's current work is heavily colour based using bright and fluorescent colours paired with light to trick the senses and create other worldly immersive zones. Bridging the gap between science and art, fuelled to further her knowledge and explore the minds oddities, Susannah Wheatcrofts work often explores her own experience of reality, referencing; dreams, hallucination and the subconscious mind, creating work instinctively. "It is important to realise that art and life are shared" For me creating art is a release, a form of therapy. Creating art gives me insight into the worlds mysteries and unanswered questions. I get the same feeling when I create a great piece of art that I do when I see an incredible sunset - Theres something more out there. |
"And with this type of art, the energy will be shifted from the depths of the creator and into the depths of the audience to be felt. It is a dance. A transference. An intimacy. Its to touch and awaken another human in a place they hadn’t known was aching, or sleeping. Both are nourished. Both are opened. Both are transformed." - Victoria Erickson
